JB Productions is the work of Jon Belec, bringing decades of experience in music production, audio, post-production, branded content and visual communication. The focus is simple: thoughtful creative work shaped by skill, judgment and real-world experience.
BACKGROUND

Jon's career in audio began in the early 2000s at The Hit Factory in New York City, where he learned the craft in one of the industry’s most demanding professional environments. Working alongside accomplished producers, engineers and artists gave him an education that went far beyond operating equipment. It taught him how to listen, how to serve the artist, and how technical decisions affect the emotional result. His recording credits from that period include work with Rob Thomas, Luther Vandross, Matchbox Twenty, Jennifer Lopez, Carlos Santana, The Rolling Stones, R.E.M. and many others.
After returning to Western New York, he spent more than a decade at Finger Lakes Community College, ultimately serving as a tenured Assistant Professor and leading the Music Recording Technology program. He developed curriculum, established professional proficiency standards and mentored students entering an industry that was rapidly changing. The goal was never simply to teach software. It was to develop judgment, musicianship, problem-solving and the ability to understand the larger creative picture.
JB Productions grew out of that same philosophy. Since 2012, his work has expanded from music production, recording and mixing into artist development, branding, graphic design and visual content. He has continued working as a performing musician and producer while also taking on musical direction, touring and production management, coordinating artists, venues and technical teams in live environments.
Along the way, owning a business and serving in public leadership added another dimension to how he approaches creative work: budgets matter, deadlines matter, communication matters, and the finished product ultimately has to accomplish something. That combination of artistic experience, technical discipline and real-world perspective is what Jon brings to every JB Productions project. Technology is part of the process. Taste, judgment and human connection are what give the work meaning.
